Galapagos Surreal
Galápagos Surreal is an exhibition created in collaboration with renowned Ecuadorian-American artist Fernando Espinosa Chauvín. Curated by Clay D´Paula, the project was shown to the public for the first time at the prestigious Customs House exhibition space, a heritage-listed museum; just meters from the Harbor Bridge, in Sydney. The project was also presented in Brisbane and later traveled to Qatar, Quito and Auckland. For the exhibition´s introduction the curator stated:
“(...) Chauvín shows life in the Galápagos Islands with originality. The artist offers more strength and power to the stunning beauty of this habitat. The records are elegant and minimalist to reveal, with great sensitivity, the shape and the movement of the islands with a mystical and sublime approach: the sea looks like a mirage; the wild, tempting; the rocks, unattainable. It is a nostalgic and romantic vision of life that pulsates in that strange and at the same time enchanting place”.
